We work remote-first, from Cologne, from Essen, or from wherever you are most productive. On-site client appointments are the exception, not the rule. Responsibility. From day one.

We delegate responsibility early and consciously. From day 1, you actively work and contribute. From the first project, you are responsible for results and bear both technical and organizational responsibility for your clients. No long onboarding phase with an observer role. We trust that you know what you are doing and act accordingly.

Our consultants work approximately 170 days a year on client projects. But no matter the role: the rest belongs to you and carmasec. For internal topics and the personal and organizational development of the company. Everyone at carmasec actively shapes carmasec itself.

Home office is not a benefit, but our standard. We work from Cologne, from Essen, or from wherever you are most productive. On-site client appointments are the exception, not the rule. Trust-based working hours mean: You decide when you work. Overtime is avoided and promptly compensated. 30 days of vacation plus special leave for special occasions. And for those who need a change of scenery: workation from abroad and sabbaticals are possible.

Why is carmasec a great place to start or advance your career?

Here, responsibility is not a matter of hierarchy, but of competence. We work holocratically, with clear roles and distributed decision-making authority. There are no approvals from above. From day one, you make decisions for which you are responsible. You’ll also have experienced senior consultants by your side, real projects instead of an observer role, individual training budgets, and internal time that belongs to you and carmasec. You won’t just grow into the company. You grow with it.

What does a typical workday look like?

Honestly, there isn’t one. Cybersecurity is too dynamic for routine. You switch between projects, internal topics, and professional exchange, and no two days are alike.

What is the work environment like?

Remote-first, with offices in Cologne and Essen. You work where you are most productive, without mandatory office attendance. When we meet, it’s for a clear reason: Open Friday, carmasec week, or an appointment we prepare for together.

How long does the application process take?

We usually respond within a few days of your application. The entire process typically involves two interviews and usually takes only a few weeks. We understand that you may have other options and respect your time.

In what format do the interviews take place?

Normally remote via video call, uncomplicated and without much effort. If needed or desired, we are also happy to meet in person at one of our offices in Cologne or Essen.

Do I have to meet all requirements in the job profile?

No. If you meet most of the points and are truly passionate about cybersecurity, we welcome your application. Missing qualifications are not an exclusion criterion, but a starting point for joint development.

Can I also submit an unsolicited application?

Yes, absolutely. If you don’t find a suitable advertised position right now, simply send us your profile and a brief description of what interests you and where you want to go. We will see what is possible.

Are there entry-level options for students?

Yes. You can join us as a working student, intern, or for your thesis. Just write to us about your preferred timeframe and the topics that excite you; together, we will find the right format.

What happens if it’s not a good fit?

We will always give you honest and specific feedback. If the timing or profile isn’t right at the moment, it’s not a definitive no. We welcome a renewed application once circumstances have changed.

How do I prepare for the interviews?

Just come as you are. We want to get to know you: your background, your motivation, and how you work. Depending on the role, we might discuss a specific case together or prepare a short task. You will be informed of this in advance so you know what to expect.
